The Old White Cat That Hangs Around the Apartment

These are pictures of an old white cat that lives in the apartment building where my brother and I live. This cat is awesome cause he looks like he's a hundred years old. On this day the cat was doing a good job of trying to stay out of the burning heat.

A Gift From Super Nova Warehouse

My friend and fellow artist Jo Ann Kim baked some of her delicious snickers brownies for me in exchange for helping to promote the inaugural show at Super Nova Warehouse, a gallery space in South Pasadena, California. I have blogged about the opening show previously so this is a follow up. Jo Ann is one the curator's at the gallery and is a very talented artist in her own respect, and as it turns out she knows her way around the kitchen! Super Nova Warehouse has a blog where you can follow all things S.N.W!! Their link can be found here on my blog under the category "pals."
I encourage everyone to go check them out.
Thanks, Jo Ann!

Here is the final printed illustration.

Here is the final version sent to I.E. Weekly.

I worked with the Inland Empire Weekly to create the cover illustration for issue 8, Vol. 4 of the southern California based publication. My illustration appears on the cover of the issue for the week of May 28th - June 3rd 2009. The cover story is about the Superintendent of a near by school district being placed on a paid leave while the allegations of sexual harasment against him is investigated further. Here, I am showing some sketches and steps of development from the assignment, including my original thumbnail for the cover illustration.

Record Time

Opening reception May 1st 6pm - 9pm at APW Gallery in New York, NY. This is one of three records I submitted for the show, "Art on Record" running until the end of May 2009. When I mailed my work at the UPS store, the guy came up with two locations. Long Island City and Historia..huh? I'm an out of towner... About 100 or so artists are participating in the show. It looks like wall to wall 12 inch vinyl all painted on. I'm sure it's quite a sight to physically be in the gallery during the exhibit. This is my first time showing at APW, hope I do well...cross my fingers. Also showing is my former classmate and very dear friend Kennis Chow. I am an admirer of hers. Go to kennischow.com to see her record. Also to see the other two records that I submitted go to my other blog librasign.wordpress.com. But shhh...don't tell this blog about the other blog.

Taking it back to the days of my childhood when I sat in class and used my kiddie scissors to cut and paste. Happy cut out trees for "Art on Record" show!
